MUSICAL YOGA

Level 1 Level 2

Baby Yoga

The focus of baby yoga is on wellbeing and on the mutual enjoyment of babies and their parents through playful interaction and non-verbal communication. It perfectly complements baby massage, expanding the benefits of touch with those of movement and relaxation.

The sessions combine sensory stimulation with movement and rhythm. The moves include gentle body strokes, mini twists and stretches, swings and dips, singing and rhymes, massage and relaxation, stretching the whole body and helping your baby to experience different body positions. The postures and positions used help to provide flexibility, beneficial stretching, improve muscle tone and coordination. They are practised to songs to develop baby’s sense of rhythm and promote language development and communication between mother and baby.

The use of touch in baby yoga also helps to create a happy secure trusting relationship between mother and baby and can help in bonding. The release of endorphins in both mother and baby’s body can help to promote relaxation and improve both their physical and emotional wellbeing. Relaxation at the end of the class is important and allows the chance to meet other new parents.

Our qualified instructors follow the Birthlight system, which draws on classic yoga and also from traditional modes of care and parenting across cultures, including rainforest indigenous people in South America. The Birthlight Trust is a non-profit organisation, with over 30 years’ experience of promoting an integrated approach to pregnancy, birth, babyhood and parenting.

We currently offer Level 1 Baby Yoga, but will soon be increasing our delivery to include Level 2 and Toddler Yoga courses.
